Born and raised in Chicago, Stacy Kidd has always been into music every since he can remember. Growing up, Stacy was influenced by an array of music icons such as, Joe Sample, Earl Klugh, Stevie Wonder, Steve "Silk" Hurley, and Paul Johnson, just to name a few. The greatest of these influences is Stevie Wonder, whom Kidd says, "There would be no Stacy Kidd without Stevie Wonder." Kidd has been DJing since 1987 and producing since 1989. Stacy began releasing records in 1994. He met Paul Johnson in 1990 and from there things took off for Stacy. Since 1990, Paul & Stacy have been best friends and worked on a lot of projects together. In 1994, Stacy and Paul collaborated their talents to produce a record on Dance Mania Records entitled, "Stacy Kidd & Pilly P - Doin Thangs Vol.1." Following "Doin Thangs Vol. 1," Kidd and Johnson released another record called, "Vol. 2 - Stacy Kidd & Pilly P." Shortly thereafter, Stacy released his first solo project on Dance Mania, "15213 Loomis." After the release of "15213 Loomis," Stacy moved on to Cajual Records (Green Velvet's Label) to release the single, "What." Kidd soon returned with Paul Johnson to release another release on Dance Mania, Vol. 3 of "Stacy Kidd & Pilly P."
In 1996, Stacy recorded a release on UK Label, Peacefrog Records, called "Think of You." On the heels of his UK release, Stacy began to travel abroad and play various parties all over the world. A year after his release on Peacefrog Records, in 1997, Stacy produced another record on Peacefrog's sub label, Daddy Records. In 1998, Kidd began the year with a lot of traveling and numerous remix projects. Stacy's first remix was for UK dance powerhouse, Ministry of Sound, for London artist, RhythMatic Junkies. Soon after, Kidd produced his first record for French dance label, Riviera Records, called "Chicago Life." It would be this dancefloor favorite that would open doors a release deals for numerous other producers & DJ's like, DJ Dan, Terry Mullan, et. al. Following "Chicago Life's" success, Kidd would later team with friend, Paul Johnson, once more on another record entitled, "Jammin" on Riviera Records, with Paul producing its remix. "Jammin" would go on to be a highly successful dance record also, helping to get deals with other producers & DJ's like, Mark Farina and others. In 1999, Stacy began to tour a lot in France, Australia, USA, etc. It was at this time that Stacy began to headline with other producers & DJ's like: Thomas Bangalter, Erick Morrilo, Roy Davis Jr., Derrick Carter, Bob Sinclair (Chris), Paul Johnson, Glen Underground, Super Funk, Gene Farris, Boo Williams, Basement Jaxx, DJ Sneak, Steve "Silk" Hurley, Felix the House Cat, Daft Punk, and the list goes on. However, on the dawn of the new millennium, Stacy started off even bigger. First, Stacy produced a record with Bad Boy Bill's label, Moody Records, called "Razz-a-Jazz." Next, Kidd went on to produced more remixes for Loveslap Records and Tilted Records. After those releases. Stacy produced a record with Tony Humphries on Humphries's label, Yellorange Records, entitled, "Thank You." "Thank You" received numerous radio and club play from the likes of renown DJs and producers such as: Little Louie Vega, Tony Humphries, Basement Boys, Roger S., and many more. Due partially to its buzz from the likes of the aforementioned DJs and producers, Stacy went on to receive 5 licensing deals for "Thank You.".
Now in 2001, Stacy definitely has a full plate with various projects soon to be released. First up is Stacy's long-awaited album, which will be released on Tilted Records, entitled "The Chicago Sensation." Kidd also has a new record that will be released on Confidential Records in Japan, a new record on Steve Silk Hurley's label in Chicago, a new release on Dusttraxx Records (Paul Johnson's label), a new record on Basement Boys Records, and new records on Yellorange Records, and the latest is a new track called "Lake St." on Chicago's Music 101 Recording.
When asked what he would be doing if he were not producing or DJing, Stacy commented that he would probably teach children gymnastics. If not gymnastics, he would definitely be involved with activities for children. By the way, Stacy was trained in gymnastics at an early age, and still wows his audience with an occasional "Arabian" during his sets.
