sound.
Born, raised and fed on the Chicago deep house, Chris Quinn counts the revolutionary sound of iconic contemporaries Mark Farina, Derrick Carter and Pepe Bradock as his style's inspiration and bedrock. background.
Chris grew up in Chicago, the birthplace of house. He developed an interest in the genre in the early '90s, when Midwest was trying to figure out how to musically digest and interpret the Kraftwerk, post-New Wave era. He began DJ’ing during his teens, after hearing soul and disco on local radio stations WBMX and WNUR. It wasn’t until he attended the legendary 321 Jefferson parties that Chris really got involved with new house sound – an interest that propelled him to DJ alongside Farina, Carter and Miles Maeda in the loft-party scene that would eventually become local nocturnal lore. Before hitting the decks as a full-time gig, Chris also worked at respected Chicago music institutions like Gramaphone Records, Dusty Groove and Cargo Records.
