Ananda Project ![]() Since their inception in 1998 with the seminal Cascades Of Colour EP (King Street Sounds / Nite Grooves), Ananda Project has steadily cultivated a dynamic tour-de-force that is accessible in the clubs and beyond. The brainchild of internationally-acclaimed producer / composer / remixer and DJ Chris Brann (of Wamdue Project / P'TAAH fame), the Atlanta-based collective (which features core members Brann, vocalists Terrance Downs and Heather Johnson and Julius Speed on keyboards / Rhodes, alongside a host of guest contributors) continues to inspire and enchant music lovers worldwide with their eclectic and sensuous sounds that meld euphoric soulful house with contemplative r&b, spiritually-minded cosmic jazz-fusion, organic Balearic grooves, supple electronic textures and percussive Afro-Latin rhythms. Throughout their impressive 7-year tenure, the Atlanta-based collective has not only released 3 internationally-heralded full-lengths (Release 2000, Re:Release 2001 and Morning Light 2003), they have also blessed dance floors worldwide with mesmerizing anthems like "Cascades Of Colour," "Glory, Glory," "Falling For You," "Bahia," "Kiss Kiss Kiss" and "ICU" that have been supported by some of the most influential global dance music heavyweights like Gilles Peterson, Danny Tenaglia, Francois K., Joe Claussell, Danny Krivit, , Mark Doyle (of UK's mighty Hed Kandi), Chus and Ceballos, King Britt, DJ Spinna, Pete Tong, Farley & Heller and more! With the release of Relight, rediscover and revisit classic songs from the group's heralded 2003 sophomore full-length Morning Light. The highly-anticipated collection is another selection of sophisticated and cosmopolitan, multifarious grooves showcasing the group in top form. This is a not just another typical remix cd. Instead, the sensorial 2-disc set (compiled by Chris Brann) re-visits and re-assembles several stand-out tracks from Morning Light reinventing them into re-energized pulsating hits. Featuring over 70 minutes of continuously mixed music, disc one features 13 tracks including 5 new "Relight" re-rubs from Brann, alongside 4 exclusive new recordings and crowd-pleasing "crate essential" remixes from Eric Kupper ("Kiss Kiss Kiss"), DJ Spinna ("ICU"), Aquanote aka Gabriel Rene of Soulstice ("Justice, Mercy") and Cottonbelly aka Stuart Matthewman of Sade / Sweetback ("I Hear You Dreaming") previously unavailable on cd. Expect new entries like "Wasting My Love" and the propulsive, electronic-tinged scorcher "Shouldn't Have Left Me" to become future classics in the group's sturdy stable of dance floor essentials. The special bonus disc contains 9 hand-picked selected works spanning from 1998 - 2004 including remixes from Chris Brann, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Timewriter, G-Pal, Yoshitoshi recording artist Morel and Wally Lopez along with one new recording "Fantasy Suite" (an outtake from the Morning Light sessions) that were either previously unreleased or previously unavailable on cd. Highlights include: the coveted Danny Tenaglia staple "Falling For You" (G-Pal's New York Mix), "Breaking Down" (Morel's Pink Noise Vocal Mix) and Timewriter's sultry reinvention of the timeless hit "Glory, Glory." Relight: Morning Light Revisited is not just music for DJs and the dancefloor; the rapturous 2-disc set is designed to stimulate and arouse the senses in any environment. It's an ideal soundtrack for boutique hotels / cafes / restaurants and lounges, the international jet-set, chilled-out post-clubbers, bedroom DJs and discerning music fans worldwide that sizzles with the pulse of global dance music destinations like London, Paris, New York, Miami, San Francisco, Barcelona, Tokyo, Munich, Sao Paolo and Ibiza.
