It's been over 20 years now since Acidman (aka Acid Al) aquired his 1st pair of 1200's. Growing up in the western suburbs his earliest gigs were for party promoters throwing "house party" one-off's at various hotels as well as guest spots at all of the (then numerous) teen clubs. Always striving to set himself apart from the other DJ's Acidman prides himself on playing a wide range of house styles from acid trax to soulful vocal house and making every transition count. A couple of years later he would meet Neil "Hawiian" House and Spinnin' Wheel Bill who allowed him to intern at "Air Sound Studios" in Oak Park. Spending virtually every free hour at Air Sound, Acidman was able to rub shoulders with superstars like DJ Pierre, Felix Da Housekat and the Gherkin Jerks. He practiced remixing tracks and also used his talents as an artist to design the logo for "New Power Rcds." (which can be seen on discogs.com.) Shortly after Air Sound Studios closed it's doors in the early 90's Acidman befriended acid house creator and house music legend Adonis who allowed him to mixdown the remix of Marshall Jefferson's "Move Your Body" (Trax/ PRD) at Sub-mission Studios. As Acidman's talents and reputation grew so did demand for his services he was constantly on the move doing guest spots at all of Chicago's legendary club venues (the Riviera, Shelter, China Club, Cairo, Medusa's, Red Dog, Zentra, Smartbar to name a few.) All the while maintaining a strong prescence at underground gigs and afterhours even being double booked on some ocassions. In 1995 Acidman was hired by Charles Little to become one of the original members of PURE prds. His behind the scenes experience with PURE would come in handy three years later when a long time friend asked for his assistance in starting a new rave production that Acidman would eventually name "Shadefree." Shadefree quickly became one of Chicago's largest rave productions with Acidman at the helm as the resident DJ. It was this four year residency that catapulted Acidman from popular local hero to full fledged headliner status as he played primetime slots alongside fellow house greats such as; Paul Johnson, Miles Maeda, Green Velvet, Roy Davis Jr. Colette and more too many to name. His popularity in Chicago's rave scene landed him numerous gigs all over the midwest and even a trip to Lima, Peru. At present Acidman is partnered up with good friend Tyrel Williams to focus on music production under the moniker of "Oreo Funk" with several releases in the works. When not in the studio Acidman continues to do what he does best which is moving the masses to the dance floor like only he can. Hear the what all the fuss is about. Hear over 20 years of experience come through the sound system an Acidman set is one you truly do not want to miss!
