Bred from the prestigious pedigree of Chicago House DJ's, Julian Pena has devoted himself to continue that legacy and make his own mark in the music scene. Born and raised in the Windy City, Julian was no stranger to the city's house tradition. Attending raves and loft parties throughout his youth, Julian found himself in awe with the underground house scene in Chicago. Listening to Dj's like Sneak, Johnny Fiasco, and Ron Hardy work the crowds, he soon found himself wanting a piece of the action.
He initially took it as a hobby, but after gaining an immense reputation spinning at house parties, the scene soon found him. He emerged in the Chicago club circuit and made quite a name for himself by staying true to his house music roots and playing blends of Latin jazz, disco, and funk which has defined his distinctive sound. Showcasing his self-taught talent has led him to hold down residencies at Cactus, Zentra, Tini Martini, Bungalow, Martini Ranch, Funky Buddah Lounge, Clybar, Xippo, and Subterranean (just to name a few) and playing among legendary DJ's like Farley Funk and Terry Hunter.
He is currently employed at Gramophone Records holding down the underground house torch and further spreading his knowledge to the scene. He is also hitting the studio making his own beats and trying to establish himself as a producer. With his hard work, dedication, and god-giving gift, he continues to enhance his credentials and plans to carry on Chicago's prestigious house tradition.
