Boom Boom Room

Chicago, IL - Late in 2003, the Wicker Park dance mecca, Red Dog Nightclub, closed its doors for the final time leaving a void in Chicago's nightlife by bringing an end to their staple Monday night party - the world renowned Boom Boom Room. In May 2004, Boom Boom rejoined the city's clubbing community at the beautiful Green Dolphin Street - this time bigger and better than ever!

Boom Boom Room began 15 years ago as Chicago's first alternative lifestyle/service industry night dance party. Built around local DJs and Chicago House music, Monday night at Red Dog nightclub was a rising star in Chicago's ever growing nightlife and the emerging popular Wicker Park neighborhood.

In mid 2004, after a hiatus and following the closing of Red Dog, Boom Boom Room was resurrected and moved to a new home at Green Dolphin Street by long time friends and associates Arman Razavi of Music 101/ Mad Bar and Joey Swanson of Chicago's Q101 - Sonic Boom and XM radio fame. Together and apart, Razavi and Swanson have been at the epicenter of Chicago nightlife for more than 20 years. The new venue allowed them to begin fresh and re-conceptualize the night based on their years of experience attending and working at venues such as Limelight, Medusa, Shelter, Crobar and other influential Chicago clubs of the mid 80's and early 90's. With more than 4,000 square feet of dance space, multiple bars and music environments, late night dining, state-of-the-art sound and lighting, a heated and air-conditioned tent with a massive retractable ceiling and garden walk leading to a private dock on the Chicago river, Green Dolphin Street was a true hidden treasure at the time and allowed the duo to put every inch of the club to proper use.

Since 1992, the Boom Boom Room Monday night party has been a staple in Chicago nightlife gathering people from all ethnic and social backgrounds and each city point for a weekly ritual of dance and pageantry. Now nearing its 15th year, Boom Boom Room continues to inspire the savviest of club-goers, revealing the relationship Chicago has with House music and the people who love it most.

The classic Chicago House sound of Boom Boom Room combined with the unparalleled ambiance of Green Dolphin Street has proven to be exactly what Chicago's nightlife community has been longing for. With weekly attendance topping 1,000 people, the move has propelled this Monday night party to its legendary status!

The new Boom Boom Room has been an instant hit. Balancing the spectrum were Club-kids, go-go boys, exotic dancers, industry workers and House music fans of all races, background and sexual orientations. "This is a party where people come to dance" says Just Joey, co-promoter and Green Room resident DJ. He and Uncle Milty play a variety of Chi-town "Jack" and club classics under the stars and along the Chicago River.

But it's the weekly resident DJ's in the main room that are the star attraction at Boom Boom Room. DJs Diz and Michael Serafini mix a cocktail of beating House and hot Latin rhythms- a sound that has defined this night for more than a decade. Together, they are the engine of the night which has seen guest appearances by likes of Little Louie Vega, Frankie Feliciano, Kerri Chandler, Matthias Heilbronn, Jay-J, Mauricio Aviles, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp and many more of the stars of House music world. Added to this recipe are the individual characters of some of the most loyal and fun House fans Chicago has ever seen. "We took a Monday night and turned it to a circus, added some of the best House beats we could muster and let people go wild and express themselves any way they wanted. That's our recipe for a fun night," elaborates Arman Razavi.
